Background

The emergency clinic at Södra Älvsborgs Sjukhus (Swedish government regional hospital) in Borås gets about 56,000 patients each year. All of these patients goes through a triage process which means that they get prioritised systematically based on their level of needed care. During a patients visit at the clinic they may be re-prioritised based on vital parameters like saturation, blood pressure, GCS-value and other factors. This emergency process was previously administrated relatively analog.

As a step forward in the evolution of the hospital buisness, a development project was started by a team formed for this specific purpose consisting of the emergency central and the IT-strategic department at Södra Älvsborgs Sjukhus (Swedish government regional hospital) and the systems development team Weltgeist. The project has been domain driven with a high degree of participation from both end-users and health care visionaries, as well as other domain experts. The goal for this project has been to develop an emergency system that increases the patients' safety, cuts down on unnecessary document handling and gives better access to information.

Features

  • Digital "emergency journal" accessible and editable by many users simultaneously
  • Triage function with an integrated decision support based on a fully configurable logic for vital signs, symptom related flows and non-specific flows
  • Real-time overview of all registered patients on the specific department with priority, team association, action reminders and positioning using RFID-technology
  • Prescription function for tests and medication
  • Statistics and diagrams

Act PDF Print E-mail

Palmenco is the Swedish police's supplier of alcometer instruments and they are assigned to do service and calibration to assure the quality of the instruments functionality. Around 10,000 instruments pass through each year and gets calibrated, upgraded and fixed if needed.

Act was a collaboration between Palmenco, Wiig Data and Weltgeist. During the development process of said project Palmenco got optimised through an upgrade of the system which later got integrated with one of Weltgeist's specially developed solutions including electronic and mechanical automatization of specific tasks. Among the components of the system, one of them is a newly developed hardware unit which lets the software perform mechanical and systemized tasks that were only possible to perform manually earlier. The user interface lays on top of a .NET 2.0 application that organizes the work based on customers, invoices and delivery adresses. It also generates real-time information which is seamlessly integrated with accounting- and sales support-systems using a light-weight ESB.

CCRM7 PDF Print E-mail

Unitraffic AB supplies video systems to the Nordic police amongst other things. These video systems get assembled into cars and often have client-specific requirements regarding usability and functionality. In order to satisfy these demands, a unit that could control all of the systems incoming components was needed and that’s why Weltgeist was hired to develop both hardware and software. To communicate with the camera, the digital video recorder and other electronic parts the unit has a micro controller that does just that. The interface is an OLED display (a display with high contrast and readability) and a couple of buttons.

The project comprised of coming up with a prototype, hardware construction (circuit diagram, PCB design, CAD/CAM) and firmware development for the application run on the micro controller.

MobilATK PDF Print E-mail

A wish to keep the older Argus I-system came up when the Swedish Road Administration re-established their Automatic Speed Safety System, a system for handling speed violations. Argus II, the new system, has a centralized structure where every errand automatically gets transferred to a central server. There they get checked and forwarded to their respective authorities. The older system doesn’t handle evidence centrally and is primary used in mobile situations, either fully automated units placed at construction sites for example or in the vans the Swedish police uses. A wish to integrate the older system into the new one arose in order to get the achieved effectiveness with using a central unit.

A conversion platform where you could input raw data from the older system, complement it with information to fit the needs of the new system, and finally transfer the new data to the central unit was developed by Weltgeist. The client for this project was Unitraffic, the supplier of the Argus II systems amongst other things. The software was built on the .NET platform using a GUI based on WinForms.
